Going Blonde - Taking the Plunge

Every so often I wondered what it'd feel like if i were blonde and over the past 5 years everytime I went to have my hair recoloured, i would question if this was the time i would go completely platinum?

So, on Friday the 13th, I FINALLY took the (somewhat random) plunge and went BLONDE! I was only meant to go out and have lunch with the family, and ended up in a salon getting a bleach job! I thought, hey; i have a haircut that im pretty happy with so why not!?

I went to a salon in Burwood that my family have known for more than a decade . I trusted them enough to handle my hair.

And so it began. 4pm apt.. (which started at almost 5).
>>>First coat of bleach turned my hair into a mix of black roots, yellow hair with red tips (red because of my previous hair colour that hadn't grown out yet).

Second time, it was alot better, my hair went completely blonde, but still very very very yellow! And also by this stage, i could feel that the quality of my hair had almost completely gone into the hay like stage. Strangely enough, I didn't feel any burning sensation on my scalp or anywhere on my head. I know that people say it kills to have it done over and over, but i didnt seem to feel anything.

<<< At this stage, I was kind of scared of the result, my hair was so, so damaged and felt nothing like the healthy hair i had a few hours earler. It felt like if i were to tug on it a little, a chunk of hair was going to fall out (however, it held up really well - not bald yet!). I was also kind of worried if this was going to be the final colour.

Anyhow, after drying for a bit and letting my hair have a quick break, the hairdresser asked if i wanted to recolour it to ba an ash blonde. I have to admit, i wasnt really sure about it at first becasue the sample looked alot darker then a platinum blonde, however i agreed to it anyway since i really didnt want fluro-yellow hair!

So again, I coloured again. Somehow, i find hair colour to burn more than the bleach, not that i had much feeling there anyway. 30min later, and it was complete. The resulting colour was great! better than what i had expected!

 Apparently, this result was meant to take at least 5hrs but she managed to do it in roughly 1.5hrs. The salon had closed at 6pm, and i was still there a 6.30! By the styling stage, i was the only one left in the salon and had 3 hair dressers working on me (Haha; felt important xD).

All up, with the bleach and the colour; it cost $100 all up to have it done. And, i love the result. SO, now i know. I can really pull off blonde!! xD

Now, i can finally say "sorry, blonde moment" Haha.

YG Auditions - Audition Day!! 7th April 2012 - Ahhhh!!

Started the day off by Nervously rehearsing and sipping hot T2 Apple and Cinnamon to clear my throat (anyone whos a T2 lover (y)). I was pretty nervous already and i could hear it in my voice (Noooooo!!).
Read my facebook wall of supportive msgs and.. Got changed.

Major issue when deciding what to wear to a YG audition. I'm a shorty (at 170cm) so i know i have to wear something that will make me look taller than i really am. Note: Height = Good. So skinny jeans it was with 1 inch heeled boots (yes.. it was necessary), my baby milo tee (which i wore to the 2011 Kpop festival) and my rather expensive.....(bargain hunter) Tarocash shirt. And to top it off, sunnies. you know, just to look the part LOL.

Well, with that over and done with, nervously left the house to the station to get the 10.23 train to Chatswood.

Man, it was the longest trip ever! (not really) I was just THAT nervous...

By the time i got there, it was 11.01am. Time to find "The Civic Pavillion". I'd never been to Chatswood until today, so it was a new experience.

FINALLY reached the building and glanced at the beginning of the line.... They made the queue go around the outside behind a wall, so i wasnt able to see the full extent of it. I was so freaked out I couldn't even join the line!! O.O (yes, i'm such a chicken...)

MAN. I WAS LITERALLY FREAKING OUT!

I called my friend to see if he was on his way yet and he said 20min. (He was one of my support team xD). And, i needed moral support, so i'm glad he tagged along to keep me company. Note: its also good to have close friends there with you at an audition for moral support).

When he finally got there we went to the side of the building, where we joined the line. Looking back, it looked like we would be there forever and they had only begun calling the 100+ numbers.
We were standing about 1/2 way around the building, when this girl came around with this list and told ppl who were NOT auditioning to stand on the other side of the road. Nooooo, there goes my support team of 1 xD. Never the less, it was up to the queue to provide comfort and i gotta say, there is alot of support in these lines, you just have to talk to people :) I met Chloe and John who were both great, friendly and supportive fello YG auditionees [Hey guys!!! (if ur reading this)]. :)

After about 15min, this YG girl came around asking for the people with audition numbers for 300 (remember i was 321), Chloe was a few numbers behind me and John was 300+ (Note: for late registration, YG just issued 300+ as an auditon number). She told me and Chloe to go to the front of the line... leaving john behind :(

At this point, we were freaking out. Me more than others i think LOL. We had to go into the main room to hand in out registration forms and to formally sign on and recieve our ID stickers.
SO, I got push ahead from audition number 321 to...242 (and Chloe to 243) NOT BAD YG!!
As we both enter the main hall. Look, you can see Chloe's Blonde hair. As for me.... the top of my head LOL

Note: Singers and Singers+Dancing performers were split into 2 halls, so they ran both simultaniously.

From then on, the process was just us playing musical chairs whilst one after the other enter THE HALL... Du Du DuHhhhhhh AHHHHH! None of us could see inside the room, so we didnt know what to expect. As it drew closer and closer both of us were getting really nervous and began sculling tea and water like mad men.

And finally. It was time.

The Audition room was a really massive hall with just a table in the center, one YG talent scout, a camera-man, and another person doing the paper work.

We didn't know this before, but actually there are 5 seats inside for auditionees to wait their turn. So we'd get to see and hear each others performances. >>I KNOW.. MAke it anymore Nerve racking guys!!
Note: I noticed even though the e-mail said we get max 5min each to perform, everybody was getting stopped at around the 30second mark, i'm guessing becasue of the large numbers that they had to watch and hear.

Gotta say, the 2 girls that were ahead of me were really good, one sang The Wonder Girls "Nobody" and the other, a song by Navi which im unsure of the name. That made me even more nervous. I just prayed that when i had to get up, i would still be able to sing something without it sounding really, really crappy.

Then, it was finally my turn... strangely enough i felt less nervous than i thought i would be. Singing for the first time infront of people i've never met before is no easy feat. So, i walked up there, to the middle of this great hall and stood on the "x". I was just awkwardly standing there looking at the people behing the table because they didnt say or tell me to do anything, until i asked "do i start??"... o.o that was weird....>.>

So, finally I got to sing!!... Thankfully my nerves were fading sort of, so i was still able to deliver a somewhat decent attempt. (although i thought the first few lines were a little shaky, but then again everyones was. Note: its a really good idea to close your eyes to get into the moment of the song (it also distracts from staring/juding eyes; Haha)

After about 30 seconds the lady stopped me. Like everyone else, she didnt say anything. But she smiled, so maybe thats a good sign??

So, i went back to the 5 chairs at the side of the hall to wait for Chloe's audition. She sang Beyonce's "Listen". No easy feat in singing such a powerful ballad. She did a great job! Not alot of people can pull off a Beyonce number, but she certainly put in a pretty good effort.

With both of our auditions over, we exited the hall via the back entrance. OMG. The feeling was exhillirating!! The adrenelin rush you get is amazing! Whilst we were leaving the main hall, the crew at SBS PopAsia were there to interview us both on our audition experience. So you never know, we might be on the PopAsia Show on Sunday morining!! Haha.

With all that over, both of us sadly parted ways :'( but had really enjoyed this YG audition experience together!
~~~~
So, that was the day that I had my Very FIRST Auditon for anything and i have to say, i will defintily be doing this again. Anyone reading this and is having doubts about whether to audition or not, you should definitly try out. Its an experience that has to be had. Just do it for yourself. Its all about achieving a personal goal for yourself and well, for me, its ticking off one more thing on my bucket list! And you never know, maybe something good will turn out of it. The only way you'll know is auditioning!!
YG Auditions - The Night Before
There are less than 12hrs to go and i am literally Sh**ing myself atm.
So far, iv sang to ppl over skype and mobile, yet im sill soo nervous!! I'v spoken to so many other friends tonight, and one gave me great advice. Think;
  • I am the Only person that can do what i can do.
  • Have no regrets, this is what i do and if its meant to be, it will happen.
  • Be confident and believe in yourself that you can do it.
These are the words of a wise friend of mine (who im pretty sure will be reading this at somepoint in your life), so thank you for your guidance! And hopefully this will get me through tomorrow.
If it's meant to be, it will happen. 321. 321. 321. 321 xx
YG Auditions - Le CONFIRMATION E-MAIL
After i came back from yum-cha (as all asians do on a public holiday ;), i came to find a little surprise in my inbox.
~~~~~~~FINALLY!!!!!!~~~~~~

With under 24hrs to go, YG has finally gotten back to me with my audition details and my audition number!!
The email came as follows:
And along with that, an attatched list of auditionees and their number..... I scrolled down to find......
                                                                    :D

I saw my name and was like YESHHHHH..... only to look next to my birthday a big fat "F"......... hmmm, they registered me as a Female o.O.....
Yer........, YG Fail! They also registered a few other guys as females LOL, I'm pretty Richard and Josh are guys names.... (i think >.> LOL..... i hope <.< xD). I'm pretty sure they'll notice something odd when we register at the desk tomorrow Haha.
_________________________________________________________________________________

Ok, now that i know my audition number and where/what i have to do.... i don't know what TIME i have to get there by. My number is 321, which is 20 from the end of the list (i'm surprised, i thought there will be more participants, maybe alot of on-the-day hand in's).

I reckon they should give an approx time when we have to be there by, i mean theres no point in going at, lets say 12pm when they're not even pass the 100 person mark; think of all the waiting....

None, the less, i'll be there earlier since iv never been to the venue before and never done an audition before, so i dont really have a clue what im supposed to do.

Ahh....~ getting nervous now. Better get practicing!!
Wish me luck!

I'll do an update after my auditions, probably on Easter Sunday or next Monday, as i have a busy Easter Long weekend.

HAPPY EASTER BTW!! LOL, i kinda forgot casue of these auditions Haha.

All for now, see you on the other side! :P

YG Auditions - Song Decisions

YG auditions coming up real fast and i've yet to choose an indefintie song! I've gone through my iTunes library and out of 6726 songs i STILL can't seem to decide.
I really wanted to sing a ballad, cause they sound the best when sung in just vocals. And another dilemma... whether to sing in Eng, Mando, Canto or Krn??...
  1. I dont really want to sing in korean cause they're korean and i dont speak, so i dont   wanna sound like im making it up.
  2. I want to sing in mando but im afraid i'll forget the lyrics and so i'll have to make up some words (hopefully that wont matter because they hopefully wont understand anyway).
  3. Canto songs generally have a good vocal range but (like above) i dont think i would remember the lyrics to.
  4. English ballads are pretty hard to pull off.
So far, i've narrowed it down to one of my oldest favourite songs, 紅豆 (Red Bean) by 王菲 Faye Wong. Yes, its a mando song but i think i can pull it off. I'll UL a sound clip later on so you can see what i mean (I'm still capped remember), or you can youtube it. The song's also been covered in Krn on the East of Eden Soundtrack (by Lee Bo Ram from Seeya, and one by Lee Hae Ri from Davichi), so it may sound familiar if you've watched the drama. I havnt, but i just love the OST.

Anyway, here are the lyrics for now. It's slowish and its a pretty good vibe about it.

Gotta get practicing! :D
